Walter Graff

Walter Graff has worked successfully in more roles in broadcast television and commercial advertising than most others work in an entire career. He has been involved in over 2500 broadcast and non-broadcast projects in both above and below-the-line capacities over the last 24 years. He has produced programming for Pearson Television, Garth Ancier Productions, Studios USA, Sony Pictures, Rainbow Media, ABC, and Tribune Entertainment working on an entire spectrum of programming from America's Most Wanted to Dick Clark’s Rockin' New Years Eve. Mr. Graff was part of the success of seven daytime television programs in the mid nineties that changed the face of daytime television, including Ricki Lake, Charles Perez, and Gordon Elliot. His pioneering style of shooting and producing cinema verite-like narrative segments for daytime talk syndication is said by some of his industry peers to be the template for the style of today's reality television programs.

Mr. Graff has also directed national, regional and local commercial and direct marketing content in addition to being apart of numerous print and television campaigns. He has directed many short and long format, single and multi-camera film and video productions for numerous broadcast and non broadcast entities.

As a director of photography Mr. Graff is highly regarded and has lensed everything from features to some of the first videos created specifically for internet distribution. In addition he spent nine years fine-tuning his unique eye for lighting as a network-level lighting designer/director for such organizations as NBC, NIPPON TV, ESPN, ABC, NHL and the NBA. He currently consults on lighting design for station groups, networks, and production companies.

Mr. Graff often shares his experience and knowledge of production through lectures and published articles and contributes teaching his craft to higher learning institutions and industry groups. He dedicates a page on this web site to teaching production technique to those that do not have the resources readily available and sells instructional DVDs that have sold in every continent around the world.
